Motorsport UK News items

A survey about spectator involvement is coming soon, for MSUK to gather important information about who comes to events.

NCR Version 9 has just been published, find it on the MSUK Resource Centre or the ABKC website.  It is accompanied by a list of the changes.  An updated version of the Karting Yearbook was published earlier in March.

Regulations Consultation

Draft regulations are currently available for comments on bodywork proposals and for a competitor to optionally waive their rights to a hearing for any technical non conformace.  These would come into effect on 1 January, and clubs would have to ensure that the scrutineer  is listed as a Judge of Fact, and with the correct regulation reference.

SLOW Boards

Clubs should be preparing to order SLOW boards for 2026.  One club has already put in an order and it is proposed to trial in the British Kart Championships.

National Motorsport Week

Will be 10 – 20 July and Motorsport UK are seeking to have taster events during that period if any clubs can oblige.  Any events during that time should be notified to kart@motorsportuk.org for inclusion.

A new kart driving standards explanatory video has been produced, more details soon.  It will become an important part of the new ARKS video which will be shot in May.

Proposals to licence Event Secretaries, Club Stewards and Chief Marshals are being discussed. They would be nominated by a letter from a club.  Then these personnel would have an official link to Motorsport UK, for training, advice and notifications.

Mechanics and those in performance roles will be registered with Motorsport UK with a suitability check certificate (e.g. DBS) on mechanics from 2026.  Motorsport Uk are working with the race management providers so the mechanic and coach details can be entered by the competitor when entering a meeting.

Please ensure no media under the age of 18 are allowed on the live track or live areas.  And where possible please ensure that Clerks and other officials remain behind barriers when the track is live.

An approved “National Tyre List” will be produced to approve those tyres that are not part of the class homologations.

Scrutineering PPE – quite a few fake race suits are being found, apparently purchased on Ebay.  Please have your scrutineers on the look out and remember they have the right to keep the article and send it to Motorsport UK for further examination.  Of course a receipt should be given to the owner.
